Sophia’s LoreBary started as a humble proxy for those who wanted to use Google’s Gemini LLMs on JanitorAI. It soon grew into an “unofficial extension,” providing features to enhance JanitorAI users’ AI roleplay experience, such as lorebooks, that the platform lacked at the time.
Today, Sophia’s LoreBary is used by thousands, even making it into the top 10 apps list on OpenRouter. And on December 14, 2025, Sophia, the founder and developer of LoreBary, unveiled LoreBary 2.0.
Sophia’s LoreBary 2.0
At its core, Sophia’s LoreBary is a proxy service, primarily used by JanitorAI users, that provides a unified library of commands, plugins, lorebooks, and more to enhance their roleplay experience.
Sophia’s LoreBary 2.0 expands the AI roleplay content available in its library. The service can now be used as a proxy on almost any frontend. Users can create personal proxies to use local models or any cloud provider of their choice. LoreBary 2.0 also introduces Bary, an AI assistant to help creators.
LoreBary 2.0 Proxy Anywhere, Not Just JanitorAI
Users can now use Sophia’s LoreBary on any frontend that supports using external models. They can enjoy features that enhance AI roleplay, like lorebooks, even on platforms that don’t support the feature or hide it behind a paywall.

Sophia’s LoreBary 2.0 still has deep-rooted ties with JanitorAI, but it is now a platform-agnostic service. It remains completely free to use and now accepts donations to help cover operational costs.
Custom Model Provider Support
Sophia’s LoreBary 2.0 natively supports 7 model providers and now also allows users to create personal proxy connections to connect with any model provider of their choice. The provider needs to have an OpenAI, Anthropic, or Gemini compatible API endpoint.

You can even run models locally with KoboldCpp and set up a personal proxy connection on LoreBary 2.0 to use local models on JanitorAI or other online frontends.
LoreBary 2.0’s Roleplay Studio
Sophia’s LoreBary 2.0 introduces Roleplay Studio, a section of the library that houses characters, prompts, and personas. Creators can share their creations for others to use on any online or local platform.

Creators can also create content using LoreBary 2.0’s intuitive, easy-to-use visual editor and AI assistant, Bary. Bary can do all the heavy lifting and create content like lorebooks and characters with just a simple prompt. Or it can assist creators with small tasks while they focus on the finer details.

Sophia’s LoreBary 2.0 also introduces social features like profile pages, activity feeds, notifications, and the ability to follow creators, helping them build a following and grow.
Ironing Out The Kinks
The 2.0 launch hasn’t been smooth. Last-minute hiccups, server overload due to too many users trying to connect, and undiscovered bugs have kept Sophia up for hours. She’s slowly ironing out the kinks, and her small but dedicated team of volunteers is doing their best to help.
LoreBary 2.0 is a big leap for the service, expanding its library of AI roleplay content, becoming platform-agnostic, and offering creators intuitive tools to create content and build a following. It’s come a long way from being an “unofficial extension” for JanitorAI.
